The Book of Obadiah is one of the shortest books in the Scriptures. Obadiah introduced his one-chapter book with a short phrase in verse 1a: The vision of Obadiah.
This introductory statement means that the prophecy came to Obadiah by means of a vision, something he actually saw. God revealed Himself to the prophets in various ways, and one of the means of revelation was that sometimes the prophet was transported through time and could actually see the events that were to occur prophetically in the future. He would then record them as he saw them in the vision.
